An Entitled Mom Changed Her Baby’s Dirty Diaper on a Restaurant Table and Lashed Out at an Older Waitress for ‘Discriminating Against Parents’ – Minutes Later, She Screamed, ‘You Can’t Do That!’

While having lunch with my two-year-old daughter, I watched a woman change her baby’s dirty diaper on a restaurant table—between plates of food.
Our 64-year-old waitress, Dorothy, politely directed her to the clean changing station. Instead, the woman, Melissa, accused her of discriminating against parents and began filming her.
I stepped in, then quietly asked Dorothy to bring out the restaurant’s portable changing station. Its sign read: “Changing facilities are available. Dining tables are for food.”
“You’re humiliating me!” Melissa shouted. “Who do you think you are?”
“I’m Kaylani, the restaurant manager. Today’s my day off.”
Melissa threatened to post her video until I reminded her that it also showed Dorothy politely offering help. She paid and left while staff arranged to sanitize the table.
On Monday, an unexpected email arrived: Melissa apologized. After watching her recording, she realized Dorothy had been respectful throughout.
Dorothy welcomed her back, and we made our changing facilities easier to find. My daughter summed up the lesson perfectly: “Food tables are for pancakes.”
