I Took My Girlfriend to a Luxury Restaurant for Our Anniversary—They Shamed Me for Leaving a $0 Tip

I booked a riverside restaurant for our third anniversary, hoping for a memorable evening. Instead, our waiter moved us from our reserved window table to a cramped spot near the kitchen, dismissed our questions, and served lukewarm food. When I mentioned my incorrectly cooked steak, he shrugged.

After paying the $180 restaurant bill, I left no tip. The waiter confronted me, and the manager lectured me about tipping without addressing our complaints.

That night, I posted a detailed review of our experience. The next morning, someone from the restaurant group’s headquarters called, demanding I remove it or provide proof—and threatening possible legal action.

A ruined anniversary dinner had become a dispute over an honest restaurant review. What upset me most was their determination to silence my complaint instead of addressing what went wrong.
