My Neighbor Gave Her Friends Our Netflix Password – Then Called Me ‘Pathetic’ for Refusing to Pay for Them

For two years, my neighbor Marissa and I exchanged streaming logins: she used my Netflix, and I used her Hulu. Then unfamiliar profiles appeared, and my family repeatedly couldn’t watch because too many people were using our account.
Marissa admitted she’d shared our password with three friends. When I said I would change it, she called me “pathetic” for complaining over $15 a month.
Instead of arguing, I asked how she’d feel if I gave those same friends her Hulu password.
“That’s different,” she protested. “That’s my account.”
“And Netflix is mine,” I replied.
She finally apologized. That evening, I changed my password, signed out every device, and stopped using her Hulu. Our friendship cooled, but a month later, she brought iced coffees as a peace offering.
We eventually became friendly again, but never shared passwords. This time, our friendship had clearer boundaries—and more respect.
