My Husband Made Me Take Out a $15K Loan for His Mom, Saying She’d Pay Me Back in a Month – But She Later Said, ‘I

My husband pleaded with me to borrow $15,000 “for his mom,” assuring me she would return every penny within a month. I had doubts, but he claimed taking out the loan himself could put his job at risk. As usual, I gave in.

Weeks later, I asked my mother-in-law when she would repay me. She insisted she hadn’t borrowed any money. When I confronted Andrew, he simply shrugged. “I don’t think she ever intended to pay you back.”

Then the truth came out. His mother had threatened to remove him from her will unless he helped her—even though the house she held over his head wasn’t legally hers. Worse still, my money had funded a trip to Turkey for a facelift and breast implants.

With a fresh wardrobe and a professional photoshoot, she was showing off her transformation on Instagram while I lay awake worrying about the repayments. That was when I stopped making excuses for my husband.

Andrew had no idea I’d recorded him accepting the envelope and saying, “I’ll take it to Mom tonight.” I brought that recording, along with the messages and receipts, to a lawyer.

My lawyer filed for divorce and full custody and pursued fraud charges. Faced with the evidence, Andrew couldn’t talk his way out of what he’d done. I was finished covering for him.

Now my daughter and I are starting over. As for my mother-in-law, her #HotGirlSummer suddenly came with court dates.
