After my 14-year-old son, Mason, chose to live with his dad after our divorce, I tried not to interfere. At first, he seemed happy, sending photos of pizza nights and burnt waffles. But soon, his calls stopped, his grades dropped, and teachers said he seemed disconnected and lost.
