A Millionaire by Heart: A Lesson from a 14-Year-Old

I asked my students to write an essay titled “If I Were a Millionaire.” Most imagined luxury cars and big houses, but one girl sat quietly, thinking. “I already feel rich,” she told me. “I just want to explain why.”

Her essay described a mother who makes breakfast with a smile, a father who walks her to school, and a little brother who hugs her when she gets home. Their house was small, she wrote, but it was full of laughter and love.

Her final line stayed with me: “A millionaire may have money, but I already have a family who makes me feel priceless.” That day, she reminded me that true wealth can be found in the people who make us feel loved.
