My Neighbor Put a ‘No Parking’ Sign in Front of My House – I Ignored It but Regretted It by Midnight

My neighbor Janet kept asking me to move my car from the public street in front of my house because she didn’t like seeing it from her living room. When I refused, she put up a fake “No Parking” sign. I took it down and thought the argument was over.

Two nights later, after I’d asked Janet to lower the music at her daughter’s birthday party, my car disappeared. A towing notice lay on the curb, and Janet watched from her porch as I found it. The tow company soon returned my car at no charge—but the authorization form they gave me had my forged signature on it.

The next morning, Janet’s daughter Brooke told me her mother had put the sign back before the tow. When I confronted Janet, Brooke revealed something I hadn’t known: her late father used to park his truck in that exact spot. Janet admitted that seeing my car there reminded her of his absence. Then she apologized for the sign, the tow, and signing my name.

I kept the paperwork and video. Janet paid the towing company and signed a statement acknowledging she had no authority over the curb. Months later, I began parking a little farther forward when I could. Janet left a note on my windshield: “You don’t have to move your car. I know that now. Thank you anyway.”
