My Birth Family Contacted Me After 31 Years with an Outrageous Request — Am I Wrong for How I Reacted?

It all started one Tuesday night when my fiancée, Vivianne, and I were talking about having kids. I was excited but worried about my medical history since I was adopted and knew nothing about my biological family. To ease my mind, I ordered a 23&Me kit. The results revealed unexpected messages from my birth siblings, Angela and Chris, claiming they were searching for me. Despite their attempts to reach out, I wasn’t interested and blocked them.

However, they continued to harass me through emails, texts, and social media. One day, Angela messaged me saying my biological mother needed a liver transplant, and I was the only match. Reluctantly, I agreed to meet them, but when I arrived, their behavior confirmed my suspicions. They had no real interest in helping their mother. They refused to get tested, and I realized their motives were selfish.

I confronted them, made it clear I wanted nothing to do with them, and walked out. Vivianne supported my decision, knowing I had a family who truly cared for me. Later, I deleted my 23&Me profile, changed my number, and moved on with my life.
