My 7-Year-Old Son Started Sleeping Under His Newborn Sister’s Crib – When I Heard What He Was Whispering to Her at 2 AM, I Went Pale

My seven-year-old son suddenly began sleeping under his newborn sister’s crib. When I heard what he whispered at 2 A.M., my blood ran cold.

Ben had begged for a sibling for years. When Brenda was born with Down syndrome, he simply held her and said, “She’s perfect.”

But two weeks later, he refused to sleep in his room. One night, I heard him whisper beneath her crib, “I won’t let Grandma do it again.”

Through tears, Ben revealed that his grandmother had been secretly waking Brenda every night and making her cry. She wanted us to believe raising a child with Down syndrome would be too difficult—and had even contacted another family about taking her.

We immediately made her leave and set strict boundaries. Almost a year later, Ben was finally Brenda’s carefree big brother again instead of her exhausted protector.

At her first birthday, someone asked what he had wished for before she was born.

Ben smiled and said, “I already got it.”
