National Park Service ranger dies after falling into crevasse on Mount McKinley during climbing patrol

Seasonal ranger Robin Pendery, 33, died while working at the 14,000-foot camp on Denali after falling into a hidden crevasse when a snow bridge collapsed beneath her.
An experienced mountaineer, Pendery was known for helping climbers, monitoring conditions, and supporting rescues in one of the world’s most dangerous environments. Rescue teams responded quickly, but the operation soon shifted from rescue to recovery due to extreme conditions.
Her death adds to a recent string of fatalities on Denali, highlighting the mountain’s extreme risks and long history of deadly climbing accidents.
