Resembling a small gray moth, this pest from the Pyralidae family is commonly known as a pantry moth. It spreads quickly inside homes by infesting stored foods like flour, rice, pasta, cereals, nuts, dried fruit, and even chocolate.
Although not harmful to health, it can become a serious nuisance. The moth lays eggs in food packages, and its larvae contaminate products with web-like strands and damage before the infestation is even noticed. Because it reproduces rapidly and often hides inside sealed items, a small problem can quickly turn into a widespread kitchen infestation.
