Ten-year-old Perla Alison, who disappeared after leaving home to buy candy in the Santa Martha Acatitla neighborhood, was found dead Tuesday in an abandoned lot near the Constitución de 1917 metro station, ending a desperate four-day search.

Her disappearance sparked a nationwide Amber Alert and a massive community effort, with volunteers sharing flyers and social media posts in hopes of finding her alive.

Authorities discovered her body after a nearby resident reported a strong odor. Forensic investigators confirmed signs of violence, and officials have opened a femicide investigation as they work to determine what happened.
