With heavy hearts, we report the tragic news about this multi-talented actor

Charles C. Stevenson Jr., best known as the warm, steady bartender Smitty on Will & Grace, has died at 89 of natural causes. A veteran character actor with nearly four decades in Hollywood, he appeared in 12 episodes of the hit sitcom and built a long résumé across film and TV, including Men in Black, Ed Wood, The Naked Gun, The Office, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Though rarely in leading roles, Stevenson was known for bringing quiet reliability and depth to every scene. His final Will & Grace appearance aired in 2020, capping a career that made him one of Hollywood’s most recognizable supporting actors. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
