Having three breasts, a condition called “polymastia,” is rare and typically results from a developmental anomaly. It occurs when extra breast tissue forms during fetal development. In most cases, the extra breast tissue appears along the milk line, which extends from the armpits to the groin. Hormonal imbalances, genetic factors, or environmental influences may contribute to this condition. Polymastia can range from a small, underdeveloped extra breast to a fully functional one. It’s generally not harmful but may cause cosmetic concerns or require medical attention in some cases.
