Major US airport on red alert as passenger is diagnosed with world’s most infectious disease

Health officials are warning travelers after a confirmed measles case passed through Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, potentially exposing thousands in Terminal 1 on April 22–23.
Measles is extremely contagious and can linger in the air for up to 2 hours after an infected person leaves. A second related case has since been reported, increasing concern about wider exposure.
Authorities are urging recent travelers to check their MMR vaccination status and monitor for symptoms such as fever, cough, red eyes, and rash. Those experiencing symptoms are advised to stay home and contact healthcare providers before visiting.
Officials continue to track exposures and stress that vaccination remains the best protection against measles.
