A devastating mudslide near Lillooet, B.C. has claimed multiple lives, with three men confirmed dead and one person still missing, according to RCMP and the BC Coroners Service.

Search crews recovered victims over several days as severe flooding and extreme rainfall triggered dangerous landslides across southern British Columbia. A woman was also previously found at the site, marking the first confirmed fatality from the disaster.

Rescue operations have now been paused after all search efforts were exhausted in difficult terrain and poor weather conditions. Authorities are still working to identify the victims and notify families.

Officials extended condolences to those affected, calling it one of the most tragic disaster events in the province this year.

Highway 99 remains closed, with no reopening timeline due to unstable conditions.
