A devastating mudslide near Lillooet, B.C. has left multiple people dead after extreme flooding and heavy rainfall triggered dangerous conditions along Highway 99 (Duffey Lake Road).
Authorities confirm the bodies of three men have been recovered, while a fourth person remains missing. Earlier, a woman was also found deceased at the site, marking the first confirmed fatality from the disaster.
RCMP and search-and-rescue teams faced extremely difficult conditions as unstable terrain and ongoing weather slowed recovery efforts. Officials say the search has now concluded after all available avenues were exhausted.
B.C. Chief Coroner Lisa Lapointe offered condolences to grieving families, calling it a tragic reminder of the impact of severe weather across the province.
Highway 99 remains closed with no timeline for reopening as authorities work to identify victims and support affected families.
