An active shooter incident occurred Thursday morning at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital just north of Detroit, triggering a lockdown and heavy police response around 7:08 a.m.
Authorities say the suspect, an employee of the hospital, shot a 25-year-old coworker in the parking garage before being quickly taken into custody without further incident.
The victim was rushed to the emergency department and is currently in stable condition with injuries to the arm, according to hospital officials.
The hospital was temporarily locked down as staff, patients, and visitors were secured while law enforcement cleared the area.
Investigators are now working to determine the motive behind the workplace-related attack as the hospital reviews its security measures.
