“We Still Remember” — 8 Years Since the Karatu School Bus Tragedy
Eight years ago, Tanzania faced one of its darkest days. On May 6, 2017, a school bus carrying students from Lucky Vincent Primary School crashed in the mountainous Karatu district, claiming the lives of 32 children, two teachers, and a driver.
The students were traveling to sit for a mock national exam — a moment filled with hope that turned into heartbreak when the bus lost control on a rain-slick road and plunged into a ravine.
Today, the nation still remembers the young lives lost and the tragedy that forever changed Tanzania’s history. 🕊️
