Son Doesn’t Invite His Mom to His Wedding, but She Attends and Sees Another Woman Posing as Her

My son Joshua moved away after college and gradually distanced himself from me. One day, I decided to surprise him with a visit, only to find his neighborhood abuzz with a wedding celebration—his wedding, which I hadn’t been invited to.

When I arrived, I saw a poster of him and his bride, Carly, and the ceremony in progress. Overwhelmed with emotion, I tried to enter, but the security guards stopped me, doubting my claim to be his mother. Desperate, I shouted his name, causing a commotion. Eventually, Joshua came out, but he refused to acknowledge me, dismissing me as a stranger.

I revealed a detail only his real mother could know—his birth scar—and Carly questioned him. It turned out Joshua had hired another woman to pose as his mother, ashamed of his roots. Carly was furious at his dishonesty and called off the wedding, saying she couldn’t marry a man ashamed of his family.

Heartbroken, I returned home, but Carly reached out later. We became close friends as she coped with the breakup, visiting me often and treating me like the mother she had lost. Though I lost a son, I gained a daughter, while Joshua remained bitter and isolated.
