I Refuse to Let My MIL See My Kids After She Crossed a Serious Line

My mother-in-law visits every weekend, but when I asked if she could occasionally help cook for the kids while we work full-time, she replied, “I’m not a free nanny — pay me.”
Hurt, I told her maybe it was better if she stopped coming over.
Days later, my 7-year-old called me crying. I rushed home to find the kitchen trashed, groceries missing, and my kids trying to make food from almost nothing.
My son said Grandma came anyway — and took most of the groceries to “teach me a lesson.”
Now my husband says she didn’t mean harm, but involving the kids crossed a line for me.
I don’t want to cut her out of their lives… but I don’t know how to trust her again.
Did I overreact, or did she go too far?
