When I Was Homeless, My Mother Shut the Door — I Only Learned the Truth After She Died

 

At 24, I lost my job, my home, and almost my hope. Within weeks, I was sleeping in my car with my two young children, pretending we were “camping” while trying to survive homelessness and heartbreak.

Desperate, I asked my mom for help — but she said her boyfriend wouldn’t allow us to stay. I left angry, ignoring her calls… and five weeks later, she suddenly passed away from a heart condition.

At her funeral, I received a small bag filled with handmade blankets, hats, and letters she had prepared for my children. She knew she was running out of time but chose to protect me from the pain.
