A man asked her out and wanted to know her favorite restaurant. She warned him it was pricey — a dinner could hit $500 — and suggested a casual Mexican spot instead. He insisted on the expensive place.
The date went well, drinks and dessert included, and they offered to split the bill. But when the server reached for their cards, he grabbed hers, paid for everything, and casually said:
“Oh, now I finally know your last name.”
As a bartender, she knew how easily someone could memorize card details. What he saw as harmless felt intrusive to her. She left politely, blocked him, and later sent her share — not out of obligation, but to avoid looking like she was there for a free meal.
