My and my wife lost “our” baby, we divorced and now I’m moving on.

My wife—now my ex—was two months pregnant when she confessed that she cheated on me years before we got married.

We’ve been married 8 years. She said she wanted a “clean start” before becoming parents. I asked the question that shattered everything: Was the baby even mine?

Hours later, she suffered a miscarriage. The doctor said it wasn’t forced, possibly emotional shock. While she was in the hospital, I told her maybe it was for the best—because a child would’ve made divorce harder.

I loved her. But I couldn’t trust her anymore. If she hid a betrayal for nearly a decade, what else could she hide?

We agreed to a mutual divorce—no court, no property battles, no children involved. She signed the papers at her father’s house. We hugged one last time, and I told her I respected her honesty—but I couldn’t forgive the cheating.

The papers are filed. I’ve started therapy. It still hurts, but I refuse to repeat the cycle of infidelity I grew up around.

Sometimes love isn’t enough without trust.
