Major Retailer Planning Big Job Cuts

Amazon — the massive online and physical retail company — is planning to cut thousands of jobs, mainly in its corporate workforce. Reports say Amazon previously announced cuts of about 14,000 corporate roles and is now expected to aim for even more, with plans discussed to eliminate up to around 30,000 corporate positions as part of cost‑cutting and restructuring efforts tied to AI and efficiency moves.

Why it matters: Amazon is one of the largest employers in the world, so these planned cuts could have a big impact on office and support staff even though store and warehouse roles are usually less affected.
