Little girl who looked 8 months’ pregnant because of deadly disease is saved thanks to dad’s kidney donation
Every parent’s greatest wish is for their children to be healthy and happy. When Karen Rodas and Paul Bybkin welcomed their son Nathaniel, their joy was short-lived. Nathaniel passed away after just 36 hours due to Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), which leads to kidney failure.
In 2013, they had a daughter, Maddy, who was also born with PKD. Her condition caused her tummy to swell, resembling a 9-month pregnancy. However, Maddy received a life-saving kidney transplant from her father, Paul, after spending much of her early life in and out of hospitals. The surgery was a success, and both Maddy and Paul recovered well.
Karen expressed immense gratitude, saying Maddy now has boundless energy and is a happy, healthy 2-year-old. Paul, humbly, believed donating his kidney was just part of being a parent. While Maddy may need another transplant in 25 years, she now has a bright future ahead.
This family’s journey is a testament to love and sacrifice. We wish them all the happiness in the world!
