The Girl I Helped in the Subway Came Back When I Needed It Most

One day, I saw a young girl asking for money to get home. She had lost her bag — no wallet, no phone, nothing. She looked genuinely upset, and I couldn’t just walk by. Instead of giving her cash, I bought her a subway ticket and went on my way, not thinking much more of it.
Months later, I ended up in the hospital. While lying in bed, a doctor walked in with a group of students — and then I saw a familiar face. It was her. She had been trying to thank me, and by pure coincidence, our paths crossed again. She returned the money for the ticket and even brought a jar of honey as a gift.
That small moment in the subway, a simple gesture of kindness, had come full circle. Since then, we’ve stayed in touch, and what began as a brief encounter grew into a meaningful friendship.
