\u201cWHAT??\u201d he yelled, pinning the whole thing on Josephine. \u201cSo, you\u2019ve been CHEATING on me?? How else could it have gotten there?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re accusing me of cheating? Charlie?? Come back here and explain,\u201d she shouted, but Charlie simply turned away.<\/p>\n
The days that followed were quiet. Josephine couldn\u2019t help but think of the bottle and how it got there. But then, all of a sudden, she remembered seeing their neighbor, an 18-year-old girl named Susie, buying exactly the same bottle some days prior. She also recalled Susie stopping by and asking from Charlie to help fix their faucet, so maybe it was then that she left it at their place. Not surprisingly, the thought of Charlie having something to do with Susie, although he could be her father, also crossed Josephine\u2019s mind.<\/p>\n
<\/a>In order to clear her doubts, she decided to invite Susie and her dad over for dinner one night. As they chatted, she casually mentioned the hair lotion, and to her surprise, Susie\u2019s dad said it was his and that he left it there when he came to fix something for Charlie.<\/p>\n
In the pursuit of answers, Josephine decided to check the cameras the following day. What she noticed was that Susie\u2019s father visited their home way too often, and that she had no idea about that. After this, things got even more confusing for her to be able to untangle the truth so she decided to confront her husband yet again.<\/p>\n
\u201cCharlie, you\u2019ve got some explaining to do,\u201d\u00a0she said, not assuming the reality she was going to face.<\/p>\n
Panicked, Charlie uttered, \u201cHe\u2026 he was just helping with repairs.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cRepairs?\u201d she pressed, her voice laced with suspicion. \u201cEvery single time I wasn\u2019t here? Come on, Charlie, level with me.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/a>Running his hand over his head, Charlie\u2019s face etched with worry. He hesitated for a long moment, then blurted out, \u201cAlright, fine. There\u2019s more to the story, but please\u2026\u201d He trailed off, his voice cracking. \u201cPlease, Josephine, you gotta believe me\u2026 I never meant to hurt you.\u201d<\/p>\n
As she stared at him with a racing heart, Charlie gathered the courage to confess, \u201cI\u2026 I\u2019ve been having an affair.\u201d<\/p>\n
Charlie\u2019s admission felt like a massive blow. \u201cAn affair? With Susie\u2019s dad?\u201d His words sounded like a cruel joke.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve been having an affair with a MAN?? How could you do this to me\u2026 to our family?\u201d she screamed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love you, Josephine. Always have. But\u2026,\u201d he tried to explain. \u201cI\u2019ve been struggling with my sexuality for years. I didn\u2019t want to admit it, even to myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/a>Josephine was crushed. She felt that her entire life was a huge lie and everything she believed she had built with the man she loved was nonexistent.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo all these years,\u201d she choked out. \u201cYou were living a lie?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t a lie, Josephine,\u201d he argued. \u201cI love you, and I love our kids. It\u2019s just\u2026 there was this part of me I couldn\u2019t ignore anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd you decided to act on it with Susie\u2019s dad??\u201d she sneered, as fury welled up along with the hurt.. \u201cHow could you betray me like that?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t planned,\u201d he faltered. \u201cWe just\u2026 connected. He\u2019s lonely, Josephine. His wife passed away a few years back, and\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
