We hadn\u2019t spoken in nearly twenty years. He left when I was nine and never reached out, no matter how many times I tried. When I got the call about his death, I felt nothing but a hollow ache.<\/p>\n

At the nearly empty service, my grandmother reappeared and warned me something was off. At the house, I found Elise and Cameron\u2014his children from a second marriage\u2014desperately searching for a will. They hadn\u2019t even attended the funeral.<\/p>\n

Then a man appeared\u2014Frank Delaney, the estate executor. Behind him, my grandmother arrived and stood by me. She said my father had realized his mistakes and wanted to make amends.<\/p>\n
