I eventually found her, walking slowly with an orange cane and a homemade blue sweater. When I called out, she turned and smiled, like she\u2019d been waiting for me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think I got turned around,\u201d she said, her hand shaking slightly as she reached for mine. She couldn\u2019t remember her name or address\u2014but when I asked if she had any pets, her whole face lit up.<\/p>\n
\u201cPickles,\u201d she said. \u201cMy little mutt.\u201d<\/p>\n
She\u2019d followed him into the woods after he ran off\u2014no coat, no phone, just love and worry. We didn\u2019t see him at first, but as we turned back, she suddenly stopped and whispered, \u201cI think I hear him.\u201d<\/p>\n
