For six months, my wealthy neighbor Richard parked his Mercedes on my grass despite having a spacious driveway.

When I asked him to stop, he laughed. “You should be grateful my expensive car is decorating your yard.”

Eventually, I snapped. With two friends, I placed heavy concrete barriers around his car overnight.

Richard was furious. Instead of accepting an offer to remove one section, he hired a crane to lift his Mercedes over the wall.

I watched from my porch, enjoying my revenge—until the suspended car swung toward my house.

The crash destroyed my railing and damaged a support post. The repair estimate could exceed $14,000, and nobody could immediately confirm who would pay.

My victory suddenly felt very expensive.

Days later, Richard apologized for disrespecting my property. I admitted that trapping his car had made everything worse.

He agreed to pay for restoring the lawn. I covered removing the barriers, and we arranged urgent repairs while insurers assessed the accident.

Richard finally stopped parking on my property. But we both paid for letting pride turn a parking dispute into a disaster.

Sometimes karma doesn’t choose sides.

Would you have handled this neighbor differently?

For six months, my wealthy neighbor Richard parked his Mercedes on my grass despite having a spacious driveway.
