They expected me to sign it over to Claire because, as my mother put it, I had \u201cno family of my own.\u201d I decided to find out how much Claire was willing to take.<\/p>\n<p>I invited her to a meeting with a lawyer friend and told her she could have the house if she signed a document taking full responsibility for our parents. She agreed without hesitation. Our parents, listening from the next room, heard everything. My parents now support themselves, and I finally have room for my own life.
