My son Ethan hated hospitals after losing his brother, Daniel, in one. So when he decided to donate a kidney to five-year-old Rosie, I was stunned.<\/p>\n

The transplant saved Rosie, but Ethan died from a rare complication. Before passing, he made me promise not to blame Rosie or her mother, Lauren.<\/p>\n

After his funeral, Lauren revealed that she had helped save Ethan after the accident that killed Daniel. She kept him alive until paramedics arrived.<\/p>\n

Ethan hadn\u2019t donated his kidney to repay a debt. In a final voice message, he explained, \u201cYou helped me get the chance to grow up. Rosie deserves that chance too.\u201d<\/p>\n
