When I arrived at my brother Pete\u2019s house, Grandma was struggling upstairs with his laundry while he relaxed on the couch.<\/p>\n

After moving in following knee surgery, she had become his unpaid maid\u2014cooking, cleaning, ironing, and doing yard work because she feared becoming a burden.<\/p>\n

One afternoon, I found her scrubbing the bathroom floor. Her hands were swollen, cracked, and covered in cuts because Pete refused to buy cleaning gloves.<\/p>\n

I photographed her injuries and showed our family the truth. Pete accused me of making him look like a monster.<\/p>\n
