USDA’s Rollins Rips Democrats Over ‘Lie’ About SNAP Funds

 

The dispute over SNAP funding has intensified amid the ongoing government shutdown, with Democrats accusing the administration of withholding aid and Republicans countering that only Congress can authorize such spending. USDA officials confirmed that contingency funds alone cannot cover November benefits without congressional approval. However, two federal judges have ordered the USDA to release its emergency reserves to prevent disruptions in food assistance. Despite the rulings, logistical challenges may still delay SNAP payments for millions of families awaiting relief.
