Biker Finds Dog Chained to a Bridge at 3 A.M.—and a Child’s Note That Changes Everything

At 3 a.m., I stopped near Cedar Creek Bridge and found Daisy—a starving Golden Retriever with cancer, abandoned with a note. Her owner couldn’t afford surgery or euthanasia.
In her collar was another message, written in purple crayon: “Please save Daisy. Mommy’s in heaven. Daddy says she has to die, but Mommy said angels ride motorcycles. Here’s $7.43—my tooth fairy money. Love, Madison (7).”
I couldn’t walk away. My vet operated, and Daisy survived. Madison’s joy was pure, her faith in “motorcycle angels” unshaken. Daisy lived another year, loved and cared for, before passing peacefully.
Madison later started Daisy’s Angels, a fund helping other sick dogs—proof that sometimes $7.43 and a little faith are enough to spark miracles.
