On a scorching day in Cartagena, Colombia, a passerby spotted something strange on a pile of garbage near a bus station.
Two tiny puppies, barely a month old, lay motionless among the trash — tossed out like they didn’t matter.
Local rescuer Lina Patiño and her partner rushed to the scene. The fragile pups were covered in ticks, swollen with parasites, and too weak to move. “I honestly feared they wouldn’t survive,” Patiño said.
But with food, water, medicine, and round-the-clock care, little Enrique and Beto slowly came back to life. By day three, their tails wagged, their eyes brightened, and their playful spirits returned.
Now, nearly two months old, they’re thriving — chasing each other around, snuggling together for naps, and finally learning what it means to be safe.
“They were left to die,” Patiño said. “But instead, they found their angels.”
