I Returned Early to Surprise My Husband Only to Find Him Burying a Large Black Egg in Our Garden – Its Mystery Brought Us Closer

I came home early to surprise my husband—and found him in the garden, sweating and burying a giant black egg.

“Ben… what is that?” I asked.

“It’s nothing. Go inside,” he snapped, panic in his eyes.

That night, he never came to bed. At 3 a.m., I saw him pacing around the buried object like a guard. The next morning, I dug it up. It wasn’t an egg at all—just layers of black plastic.

Later, the news confirmed my suspicions: a local scam was selling fake black artifacts to desperate buyers.

When Ben returned, ashamed, he admitted he’d spent $15,000 thinking it was a valuable investment. “I buried it because I didn’t want you to know,” he said.

I took his hand. “We’ll fix this together—but no more secrets.”

We buried the fake egg again, this time as a reminder: trust is the only thing worth growing.

Ben laughed. “I love you, even when I’m an idiot.”

“Lucky for you,” I said, kissing his forehead. “I love idiots.”
