My Husband Invited His Girl Best Friend to a Family BBQ

My husband Jack’s best friend, Megan, had been a constant presence in our marriage for years, and my patience had worn thin. Tensions came to a head at a family BBQ when long-hidden secrets were exposed.
I loved Jack — I still do. After five years of marriage, things were stable, except for Megan.
She was Jack’s best friend since childhood, his “sister,” as he put it. But it never felt that way to me. Megan was always around — vacations, holidays, family events — inserting herself into our lives with a smug smile like she belonged more than I did. Every time I mentioned it, Jack dismissed my feelings.
“You’re just being insecure,” he’d say, rolling his eyes.
I even talked to Jack’s mom, Nancy, about it. She told me I needed to set boundaries, but I didn’t know how.
Jack was too close with Megan, and every time I suggested limits, he brushed me off. Even Rick, Jack’s dad, adored Megan like she was his daughter. “Megan’s always going to be part of the family,” he’d say. “Get over your insecurities.”
I hated that, but I loved Jack, so I kept quiet. Until two months ago.
Jack started coming home late, claiming more work responsibilities. But the real change? His phone. He was always on it, hiding it like it was something precious. One night, when he was in the shower, I grabbed it.
What I found shattered everything. The texts between Jack and Megan weren’t just friendly; they were flirtatious and intimate. Their affair had been going on for months.
I didn’t confront him right then. I wasn’t ready. But I knew I would, eventually. That moment came at the family BBQ.
As we sat around the dinner table, Rick made his usual comment. “Megan’s always going to be a special part of our family,” he said, with a smirk. My hands trembled as I stood up, heart pounding.
“You know what, Rick?” I said, voice shaking with rage. “I might get over it if she wasn’t sleeping with my husband.”
Silence. Jack’s face turned pale, and Megan didn’t say a word.
Nancy stood up, furious. “How could you do this to her?” she yelled at Jack. But then, Nancy dropped the bombshell: “I know about you and Megan, Rick.”
Megan went pale. Rick looked guilty. Nancy had known for a while and had stayed silent. Now, she was done.
The next days were a blur. Nancy kicked Rick out, filed for divorce, and was finally free.
As for me, I packed my things. Jack begged me to stay, but I couldn’t. Megan had ruined my marriage, and Jack had let her. So I exposed her.
I typed up a post that would destroy her: Megan had been having an affair with Jack, and not only him but his father too. She’d pretended to be part of our family while betraying us all.
The post went viral. Megan lost her job, her reputation, and her respect in the community. She had nothing left.
And I didn’t feel sorry for her. Not one bit.
