A man is talking to his best friend about married life.

“You know,” the man says, “I really do trust my wife. I believe she’s been faithful. But… there’s always that little sliver of doubt.”

His friend nods. “Yeah, I get it.”

A few weeks later, the man has to leave town for work. Before he goes, he meets up with his friend again.

“Hey,” he says, “can I ask you a favor? While I’m gone, can you keep an eye on my house? Just in case something… unusual happens? I mean, I trust her, but you know.”

His friend agrees.

Two weeks pass. The man returns and immediately checks in.

“So,” he asks, “did anything happen?”

“I hate to say it,” his friend replies, “but yeah. The day after you left, a car pulled up outside. Your wife ran out, jumped in, and they drove off. Later that night, they came back. She and a guy got out and went inside. I saw the lights turn on, so I went to take a look through the window.”

He pauses. “She was kissing him. Then he took off his shirt. She took off her blouse. Then they turned off the lights.”

The man leans in, tense. “And then?”

His friend shrugs. “No idea. It was too dark to see anything after that.”
